3. Stepping Stones: The Beginnings Book-2 The Matras
4. Colors Chart for the new students
5. Counting Sheet
NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WORK ON ALL BOOKS EVERYDAY!
Suggested Instructional Activities: In 45-50 minutes, you should be able to;
1. For first two-three weeks, work on the Mukta Word Book to review the
Penty Akhri. That book will allow you to review all Penty Akhri in an interesting way. As students learn the words in this book, they will be able to use the Matras to build new words.
2. To teach new Matras, use Lets Learn Punjabi-Gurmukhi Vowels. Teach one or two Matras on one day depending on the ability of the children.
3. Discuss the sound of each Matra. Ask the students to give you examples of the sound of the Matra. Read all the words in the lesson. Teach the meanings of the words to build vocabulary. The students must complete each lesson.
4. Teach the names of colors using the poster. Talk about the colors in their clothes, in Gurdwara etc. After teaching the colors for about 3-4 weeks, teach the numbers. Use the poster, body parts, students in class or any common objects to practice the numbers. Students should say the Punjabi word for each number up to 25 (iek, do, iqMn, etc.).
5. Create a Punjabi Dictionary with the number, color and other vocabulary words.
6. Assign homework in Punjabi that will take about half an hour at home.
7. Remember to check homework. Contact parents if the student fails to do homework. Use rewards from the treasure box to encourage good work habits.
8. Keep contact with the parents, and keep a record of the students' performance and progress in your Teacher Record Book.
